When searching for a ghostwriter it is important to find one that has previous work in the field you are writing about as well as your style of book whether it is fiction or non-fiction. Be sure to double check the credentials of any possible ghostwriters. It is also important to find a ghostwriter that you get along with. This will make the process much easier to navigate.

Be sure to double check the credentials of any possible ghostwriters. It is also important to find a ghostwriter that you get along with. This will make the process much easier to navigate.

After you’ve hired a ghostwriter to help you tell your story, you’re probably wondering what is actually going to happen with this person. Here are some possible steps to getting your story written with a ghostwriter.

Once a ghostwriter has agreed to take on your project he will want to meet with you to discuss the book, your intentions and its audience. He will also likely want to set a projected schedule. After this he may create an outline of the book and a timeline of when it will be completed.

The next step is interviewing. The ghostwriter will want to meet with you and record your interviews so he can refer to them later during the writing process. These interviews could be 2-3 hours each session for a total of 20-30 hours. The ghostwriter will have lots of questions to ask you to make sure he gets all the details of your story. Giving your ghostwriter this information will greatly help him when it comes time to write so don’t hold back! This is your chance to tell your story.

When your side of the story has been gathered, the ghostwriter may want to interview significant people from your story. He may also read

anything he can about you or your topic, watch any video footage that maybe available, attend any lectures or seminars given by you, or anything else that will help him to get to know you better. All of this will help him write your story in your voice.

After all the information is gathered, the ghostwriter will then begin writing the story. As there will be lots of information to sift through and organize, this process could take a few months. Upon finishing the writing, the ghostwriter will then need to edit it. The entire process could take up to six months. Typically, if you’ve hired a ghostwriter it means that you are aware that you are not ready to write a full manuscript. Trust your ghostwriter to do good work with your story.

Once your story is written and the ghostwriter hands it back to you, you are responsible for taking the next steps. If you would like to edit it yourself or have another editor look at it for you, your wish is your command. If you wish to self-publish it or send it off to a traditional publisher, now is your time to do so.
